In December 2009, Camille Bondy, born Bertron, died in Toulon at the age of 99 years. Walter Bondy had met her in 1932 and married her in 1937 in Toulon at Sanary.She was 26 and he 57 years old.

But in September 1940, exactly 70 years ago, Walter Bondy died of complications from diabetes, but also of sorrow over the occupation of France by the German Wehrmacht. In a composition by Camille Bondy, get second husband married a Corsican named Cozzano she knew from the Resistance, there were some manuscripts, two notebooks with aphorisms, stories, plays, a "Anecdotes booklet of family Cassirer," for family with this large which is so important in the history of art, Walter Bondy was related.

Not all is known of Walter Bondy’s art education. He attended the academy in Vienna, Munich and Berlin. One of his teachers was George Mosson, who belonged to the Berlin Secession. Mosson arranged contact with the gallery of Paul Cassirer. Walter Bondy was regularly represented at the exhibition of the Berlin Secession and later the Free Secession with flower pieces and portraits.

After 1904 Walter lived mainly in Paris, where he was one of the pillars of the circle of artists from the Café du Dôme on Boulevard du Montparnasse. There he attended the Academy Colarossi, and he was certainly influenced significantly by Renoir, especially in color. Utrillo also inspired him. "We see Paris through his eyes," wrote Bondy. Bondy painted portraits, still lifes and landscapes, but he was also a fine artist.

Bondy was active in 1918 as an art critic and collector. He collected art from Africa and Polynesia, but his main passion was Chinese porcelain. 1923 his extensive monograph "Kang-Hsi - a flowering period of Chinese porcelain art" appeared. In 1927 he founded the magazine "The Art Auction", which he edited until 1930.
