Notes for Dr. Redcliffe Nathan SALAMAN
F.R.S.
Author of "The History and Social Influence of the Potato"

From "Notes on the Geneology of the Phillips family" by Eric Phillips, 1951
One of Myer and Sarah's sons, Redcliffe Salaman, became a scientist and an F.R.S. He was the leading expert on diseases of the potato and lived near Cambridge, running a botanical research centre. He had two sons, both I think doctors, one of whom married Herbert Samuel's daughter and himself has doctor sons. Redcliffe's daughters were Esther, the singer, who married Paul Hamburger, and Ruth, in her youth an artist, who married a pianist named Collet. Ruth's daughter, Rachel, is married to Jonathan Miller.
