Richard was killed in action during World War II, on Tuesday 4th March 1941. He is remembered with honour at the Tirana Park Memorial Cemetery, Albania. It is from the Commonwealth War Graves site that I have his full name and decoration. He was a Flight Lieutenant in 80 Squadron, Royal Air Force. His number was 39967.

He was awarded the DFC.

Killed in Action on the 4th March 1941, whilst on a fighter aircraftmission with 80 Squadron RAF over Northern Italy, and was buried atThe Tirana Park War Cemetery, Northern Italy. He was awarded the DFCfor this mission, unfortunately was not alive to receive it. Duringthe dog fight he was recorded as shooting down 5 of the enemyaircraft, he was recorded as having destroyed eleven enemy aircraft.In the mission in which he lost his life he was flying a HurricaneFighter escorting Blenheim Fighter Bombers on a mission in thevicinity of Himare, Southern Albania.
