During WWll Joseph served as a Sgt. in the RAAF as a bombadier he wasinjured breaking his ankle when with other members pof the crew of theWellington Bomber No. MF 584, lost an engine when it fell off during atraining practice bombing run over Staffordshire in England. Engineactually detached from the aircraft at 9000 ft. This was on the 19thJuly 1944.
