There is no Beresford listed in the Synagogue index, but there is a Samuel listed with the date 17 Dec 1855. Cannot be positive this is the same person as so far no actual record found that matches the index. According to a card in SAG Index there is also an announcement in the Maitland Mercury of 9 December 1854 (not yet checked in actual paper) to the effect that Mrs Samuel Cohen gave birth to a son at O'Connell Street on 5 December 1854.
