Gerhard (born Nov. 29, 1923) received a degree in electrical engineering and then an MBA degree at Wharton College at the University of Pennsylvania. He had a successful business in Manhattan in the electronics field from which he retired at an early age. He met his wife, Ann Shenkman, at the University of Pennsylvania in the undergraduate School of Education. They married in 1947 and moved to Great Neck, NY. After a very short teaching period in the NY City schools, she made career of rearing their son and daughter. They now spend their winters in Boca Raton, Florida with frequent visits from their children and grandchildren.1405
