Notes for Leopold Wolfe COHEN
There is a biography of Leo in the book 'Sydney Stockbrokers' .

There was an article in the Journal of the Great Synagogue (Dec 1999) relating how Leo served in the Boer War. Apparently he was a member of the Honorable Artillery Company of London. The article also relates that Leo had been residing in London for about ten years before the war and intended to return there shortly. This information was taken from the Hebrew Standard of 30 November 1900.

Leo attended Sydney Grammar School and then went to Germany to study at a commercial college. He then went to London, where he enlisted for service in the Boer War. In 1901 he was back in Sydney and worked for a wine and spirit merchant before starting in the office of Ernest L Davis. He became a partner after his election in 1913. - This paragraph from bio received from Tony. Sources were SSE Records; AJHS Journal, Vol 1, Vol 4, Sydney Jewish News 8 Sep 1967 & 11 April 1969, ADB 8 GJ Cohen.

In the Electoral Roll of 1903 he was listed at 2 Onslow Avenue, ie Engadine.
