Notes for Rebecca [Re'] LEVY
Her grave is with that of her husband in the old part of the Jewish section at Rookwood. Her birth certificate records her date of birth as 13 April, not 14 as was previously thought. The certificate is taken from the Synagogue records which record her birth as 13 April, named on 14 May. Her gravestone shows 14 April 1849 - 13 April 1933. Family register says born Tamworth 14th April. Reg number for birth cert is V 1849413-136.

Re went to school at Marine House, Dover in England, as did her brother Benn. The exact dates are unknown, but she was definitely there in 1863. The Rev R.I. Cohen whose daughter married David (Levy) Lewis of Lewis's Stores in Liverpool, England ran the school. (see Obituary of Benn Levy in Alroy's scrapbook).

The house in Onslow Avenue, named Engadine, was built in 1885. This date was taken from a newspaper cutting at the time of its sale. See Primary records.
