Re: Family Tree of the Jewish People: Noah WACHSMANN
In relation to whether Ernestine Blumenthal was Hirschel’s mother or wife Carol Baird writes
“I have seen her gravestone myself, I have that information for sure. I couldn't find Hirschel's grave next to hers but did dig down a few inches to realize that there was a stone next to her, about the same size, but fallen over face down (of course!). I assume it was his. Her stone did say she was the wife of Zvi Hirsch Wachsmann, so I assume he was her husband and not her son (ZVI=Hirsch, therefore, Hirschel). She was 9 years younger than Hirschel, but died a year earlier than he did. Since I now know that Noah was born in 1792, Mendel either 1795 (I think the correct date) or 1801 as another document says, and Salomon born 1807, Ernestine could not have been the MOTHER of Noah or Mendel and only maybe mother of Salomon if she was a child bride.”

Carol writes:
As for the Noah Wachsmann problem: I went to Tost (now Toszek, Gliwice, in Poland) in 1997 and found the grave of Ernestine Blumenthal Wachsmann, the wife of Hirshel Wachsmann, supposedly the father of Noah, Mendel and Solomon according to the 200 year old family tree handed down to me. I, however, have come to a conclusion that Hirshel was NOT the father of those men, but their BROTHER. That is the only way this relationship makes sense. I cannot find any documentation to prove this. My assumption is that the 4 men's father was PINCHUS because:
1) Hirschel could not possibly be the father (he was too young) of the other three children as was written by the Wachsmnn family history handed down to me from Paul Waxman in 1970 (he got it from Herbert Wachsmann in London after WW II, and he had a copy most likely from Walther Wachsmann in Sweden, whose father did the original work in the early 1900's). I have Hirschel's death record from Tost: he died 11pm, Wed. 26 Nov. 1856 at 73 yr. old. The family said he was buried in Koenigshuette because there was no cemetery in Tost, but I found the cemetery (after a great adventure).
2) Beuthen Jewish death record #1184405 says that Menachem Mendel, son of Pincus Wachsmann died in 1859 at 58 years old, making Mendel born in 1801 (however the Beuthen death civil record on microfilm at the FHL #1418032 says Mendel Wachsmann of Siemianowitz died of pneumonia 6 Jan 1859 at 64 years old which would make him born in 1795) - in either case Hirschel could not be his father.
3) Noah had a son named 'Pincus," one of Mendel's sons is name Phillip (Hebrew name quite often is Pincus), and Solomon had a son Phillip, probably Pincus as well.
